Thomson Learning Announces New Name – CENGAGE Learning
New name reflects the company’s commitment to enhancing teaching, learning
and research.
London– August 31, 2007 – Thomson Learning, one of the world’s largest providers
of print and digital information services for the educational and library reference markets, officially released its new company name today: Cengage Learning. The new name reflects the company’s mission to be a “centre of engagement” for its customers worldwide. Tom Davy, CEO of the newly branded company Cengage Learning EMEA said: “Having been at the forefront of publishing for education communities over many years, we learnt that our success depends on being constructively engaged with our customers: we wanted that to be reflected in our company name”.
The release of Cengage Learning’s name follows the recent acquisition of Thomson Learning by Apax Partners and OMERS Capital Partners and signals continuity with Thomson Learning’s traditions as a research and educational publisher whilst emphasising its commitment to innovate in order to meet customers’ needs.
Cengage Learning will continue to emphasise its widely known and respected imprint brands including Gale, Heinle, Wadsworth, Delmar Learning and Arden among others, acting as an umbrella under which respected imprints and product brands will continue to exist. The company plans to completely phase out the name Thomson Learning in the next six months.
